What are Space Apps

The NASA International Space Apps Challenge (Space Apps) is an international hackathon for coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, technologists, and others in cities around the world. Teams will join the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for free and use open data to solve real-world problems on Earth and in space.

The challenge of the NASA International Space Apps Challenge 2024 is to transcend barriers to access space and science opportunities. Space Apps is for everyone! Participants from around the globe are welcomed, regardless of background and experience, to think, explore, learn, and create together. Each year, the Space Apps Challenge continues to support and promote ideas through innovation.

What are Drone Programming

Rules for participating in the competition and using openchat during the competition

This competition is organized by a dedicated team of organizers and judges who have not received financial support from any external government or private agencies. They have only received support for public relations. Every organizer has sacrificed their time and holidays to organize this event to provide Singapore youth with a valuable opportunity. We kindly ask for your understanding and empathy towards the organizing team. We apologize if the standards do not meet your expectations. Please contact the team politely and maintain good manners. Understand the sacrifice and public spirit involved. Avoid creating any problems. Please respect the rules, maintain good etiquette, and strictly follow the following regulations.

  1. Do not post complaints, negative messages, personal issues in the common room, or any content that damages or tarnishes the good image of the competition in this room. Please contact the main LINE OA channel of the organizing team, LINE ID: @droneacademy only. If any violation is found, you will be banned immediately without prior notice.
  2. Respect and honor the organizers and judges. Do not create a negative atmosphere or destroy the good atmosphere of the competition or coexistence in a good society.
  3. Parents or youths participating must thoroughly study the competition details at dronexr.org/nasaspaceapp2024. Avoid asking repeated questions without first reviewing the details.
  4. Any applicant will not be confirmed for participation if there is a history or behavior conflicting with being a good participant, such as inappropriate language, aggressive behavior, or lack of respect for the team or judges.
  5. The decision of the judges and the organizing committee is final and cannot be contested.
  6. If fraud is found, such as copying work without proper citation of the source of the code or materials used in your work, you will be immediately disqualified from the competition.
  7. Using inappropriate language or behavior towards the organizers and judges will result in immediate disqualification from the competition.
  8. If you are disqualified, you will not be entitled to any certificates from the organizers or NASA. If you wish to request assistance, please contact the organizers politely.
  9. Do not promote any activities not organized by the competition organizers without permission.
  10. If any team member violates the above rules, the entire team will be disqualified from the competition.

  • October – December: Global winners determined and announced.Experts from NASA and our partner space agencies evaluate the projects and select winners.Your team will be notified if you are selected as a finalist or winner. Good luck!
  • Recommended ages 10 and up, but those under that age can complete the project on their own.
  • If you have completed the form, confirm your application in the LINE chat box again with your name and surname.
  • After applications are closed The organizer will send an email to submit the project within 2-3 business days.
  • You can choose a topic, think of a project, and make slides in advance of the competition day.
  • You can work alone, however we recommend working in teams as each person will have different abilities. This will encourage project participants to develop themselves more quickly.
  • Recommended: 2 or more people per team.
  • Contestants can prepare in advance. But operations will start on 07 October 2024.
  • You can ask questions through the Chat room with a team of volunteers as your assistants.
  • Participants and teams are encouraged to focus on one project and one solution. Because the hackathon only lasts one weekend! If your team feels like your solution involves multiple challenges, Please choose the challenge that best aligns with your project.
  • There is a Team Search in OpenChat (some people may come alone and can join a team together)
  • Limited to no more than 5 people per team.

  • Every team must create a project page. Describe your own work
  • Shipping information will be updated on the website. But the information below is what everyone must have when submitting a project.
  • Develop your work by choosing only from the topics set out in the Official Space App 2024 Challenge.
  • It clearly shows how to use NASA data in their own projects.
  • Include links to code your work in public repositories such as GitHub.
  • Have a demo of your project (in the form of slides or short videos)
  • Make sure everyone on the team is registered to compete with the team on the page.
  • Update within 10 days

  • The organizer will announce the results on the website and make an appointment for each team to receive a certificate within 1-2 weeks.
  • Programming is required or not required for any challenge. How you code your project may depend on both the challenge you’re asked to complete and what you actually accomplish in a 48-hour period. The key: If you create something that uses code, Your team must share the code.

  1. All team members must be present to receive the award in person, no representatives are allowed.
  2. All teams must complete their projects using their own skills and abilities. Stealing or claiming others’ work as your own is strictly prohibited.
  3. All teams must maintain a positive atmosphere during the competition. Do not cause problems for the organizers or disrupt the good environment of the competition or chat rooms.
  4. All teams must attend an interview with the organizers to verify that the work is genuinely theirs.
  5. Any team scoring less than 500 points will not be eligible for any awards or certificates.
  6. If your competition application is incomplete, if you add names to the competition later, or if there is any indication of fraudulent behavior, the organizers reserve the right to revoke your participation without prior notice.
  7. If you fail to submit any part of your work or if it does not meet the required quality standards, you will lose your right to compete.
  8. If you have any issues during the competition, please contact the organizers directly. Do not send inquiries in the public Openchat group.
